You know, you shouldn't take the people in the office too serious.. There aren't that many smart or consious ppl in our office.
If they ask you if you're because you don't have a GF, they are probably just trying to irritate you, or looking for some scandals.

HSmade

Hi Pip,

Yeah you know, the funny thing is dutch people do actually wear clogs! I see workman wearing them all the time. :))

I agree with you that not everyone finds themselves in a relationship when they turn 15. But the thing is, I really do meet so many people who have been together since they were 15 or 16 that it's almost become a cliche. It seems the culture of the country is to get together early and nest early. You would be a bit of an exception to the rule, living apart from your boyfriend. I totally understand your reasons though, as I am more that way inclined myself.

In the end, being single for me is really a choice I have made, as I don't choose to compromise on certain ideas that I have about relationships. Dating itself can be quite a bit more difficult here, but that's okay, it's part of the expat experience really! :)

Take care, and talk to you again soon,

Padwanna!

Dear Padwanna,

Let me tell you that the part of people in Holland meeting there soulmate at fifteen is just as true as people in holland wearing wooden shoes. Believe me we the dutsch are struggling just as hard in the datingscene, did you know that 60% off the people in Amsterdam are living alone? Not all of them do that out of preferance. Me however, love to live alone and offcourse that does not mean that i don't like male company, but just not to live in my house, because that's were the trouble begins and ends for me.I like the idea of being happy to see my boy-friend make it exciting and nice everytime, and my experience is that that part is over quickely, sharing a house together. But I don't see any reason why you would not meet a nice woman you seem to have a lot going for you, so just put youre guard down, and go out there, Dutsch men are pretty boring so use youre Aussi charm and humour and i promise you it won't take you long to find someone. Good luck!
