Motivation… what bloody motivation

So much for my rant about “can do” attitudes in my last entry; I feel like some vampire has sucked all the life and motivation out of me, because right now I couldn’t be arsed doing anything. I keep trying to convince myself that it’s because of my neck injury from about 6 weeks ago, but I know that’s just a convenient excuse. Maybe it’s the mosquitoes at night that are stealing my mojo with the 2 litres of blood they normally take. Little bastards, they seem to have this ninja stealth ability to go invisible the second you turn on the light and start looking for them. These European ones are smart too, they know to wait till your asleep before beginning the extraction of your vital essences, as you won’t fight when you’re unconscious!

At any rate, I’m going to give myself the rest of the week off, and then one way or another, I am getting back into life again. I just wish I was more enthusiastic about the whole thing. Maybe having a haircut on friday will help. It will be my first one this year and they say a change is as good as a holiday. Well that might be true, but I think an actual holiday is the only thing that is as good as a holiday! So I might maybe look at getting some time off and head over to London to see the mates.

For now I think I’ll go and get some sleep and see if a fresh start to a new day gives things a new perspective.

Taking a holiday and getting a haircut are good ways to refresh our minds and bodies. Unfortunately it is also a way of avoiding certain things in our lives. Just remember that essentially they are an external cure/fix for what is an essentially an “internal” problem.

He Padwanna, I was allready wandering what happened to you, if your idle distraction obducted you to an tropical island or if she had broken up with you? Listen it’s summer there is football, or is Australia out yet? The Dutsch are out ofcourse actually portugal-holland was pretty interesting, 20 yellow cards and 4 red ones maybe technically not very good but from a theatrical point off view it was much fun. So try to relax and enjoy a bit because before you know it’s over. I was actually a bit pissed that it took you so long to write back, funny how something like that keeps you busy and wandering actually it’s a good thing i’m always looking forward to new pieces and reactions of you i guess i’m the unpatient kind. Guess what it’s sale in the shop i thought it could not be worth but actually it it. It’s like we are giving away clothes for free, at the end off the day the shop is a mess and we are broken, anyway had some sun, red wine and i’m fine now another hard day tomorrow, ha and Saturday is going to be most pleasant. You should visit your friends in London, it’s good to leave this country now and then and see your mates. Have fun and talk to you later groetjes pippi

Hi Anon,

Wise words, friend. But the real trick is trying to fix the problem, and not just patch a symptom. In this case the real problem is a bit of discontinuity between me and life. But this will pass. The real change is going to take a few years, so I guess there will be a few more bitch sessions before then.

Thanks for your comment here!

My dearest and best fan, Pippi!

Oh how you make me laugh! :) No my idle distraction didn’t take me away, or anything like that. I’ve just been having an extended slack period as I recover from an injury while the World Cup is on. At this point it’s all over for Australia as we got beaten (in a very unsportsman like manner) by the (cheating bastard) Italians. I saw the game where Portugal beat the Dutch in a very dissapointing match for you guys. Heh heh… so we both have to find someone else to cheer for. I’m going for England at this point, by fact that some good mates live there. Who are you going for?

Yes you’re right the weekend is coming, and it’s meant to be fantastic weather. I can’t wait really. I have a birthday party on saturday afternoon stretching into the wee hours of the morning. Should be loads of fun! :) So I’ll be joining you in beers and some fine vino to toast the sun. By the sounds of it you are really going to need your weekends to relax after those nightmare busy days working in your shop. I’ll drink a beer or two for you on Saturday! :)

Ahh Pippi, sorry for making you wait so long for a reply. For you I’ll make more of an effort! :)

Take care and talk to you soon.

He Padwanna,

I just wanted to write you an apologizing letter about me being upset with your late reaction and then i saw your reply. I hope you are doing better? For me it’s very funny to hear that guys can be really fysically sick when there country lost football, come on it’s worth maybe 30 seconds of your time an yes maybe one tear. Got the dvd John Cleese on the art of football very funny since then i love it. Our coach Johan Cruyff is also a philosopher in footbal he said and i quote: De bal is een essentieel onderdeel van het spel. He is so right i’m proud off him.I am looking forward to Argentina-Brasil may the best men win. Today indeed a busy tiring day in the shop but tommorow is the day i’m dreading. It’s nice because i’m working with two ladies a Fillipenean and an older Portugese woman, the tree of us have the starsign gemini so we understand eachother very well and we can laugh a lot and that softens the hardship. I hope you have a lot of fun on the birthday party and talk to you later. Groetjes Pippi
