Two birds and a nest.

For the last couple of days I have been watching a mum and dad pair of birds building a nest in the bough of a tree just outside my office window. This is the second time they’ve been at this because the first little happy nest got decimated in a force 9 storm that tore through western Europe a few weeks ago. Without a chirp of complaint (that I can make out with my limited knowledge of budgie) mum and dad have been working away steadily in daylight hours to make a new home for the spring, when they will get busy with each other, and make some eggs, which will hopefully be the start of a new family for them.

Now I’m really not the overly sensitive type when it comes to nature, but there is something calming and reassuring watching mum and dad build their little stick palace for the young’uns to come. I don’t know what it is, or even why I feel this way, but deep inside of me I am silently cheering them on, and hoping that they make something quite cool for the kids arrival. Maybe it’s some nature part of me that I’ve managed to suppress all these years living in big cities that is getting a bit dizzy with the excitement of it all. I’m not sure. But I do find myself more often than not looking out the window to see how they are doing, particularly when I am getting a bit stressed with all the work shit happening around me.

Maybe all these years of being told I sound like Steve Irwin are finally having an affect on my psychologically, and I’m starting to love nature like he did. Yeah I doubt it! Truth be told, I find it just a little bit inspiring that two little dinky birds like that are making the best of their situation, even when they have to start all over again after losing everything but each other.

Sickenly sweet, wouldn’t you say?!

He Padwanna,

I’m sincerely moved by your piece about the birds, it’s good that you appreciate the little things allthough it’s a clichee. Me being a citygirl having a hard time to connect to nature, but i can enjoy it. I come from a familly off gardeners and i have so much fun to see them work and enjoy there small paradises My mother believes that she has her own little bird i don’t know the name in English but they have a red chest and are very cute. She is convinced that it is always the same one that comes to say hello to her, and hips in front off her to show her his needs, very funny.

I must say that the photo on top off your blog reminds me of a painting off a very fameous painter, i’m sorry i forgot his name, he was known for his icey landscapes, he produced them in 5 minutes, and had an white afro hairdo really inspiring to.Probably you heared off the guy, in Amsterdam we have a lot off courses to learn his technique off painting, no way jose.

Do you have time for a drink next week maybe?
Oke padwanna i hope you wil have a nice weekend, say hello to the birds, would be interesting to see them give flyinglessons to there babies, keep me posted.

Glad you liked the bit about the birds, they really make me feel happy too. Each day it’s nice to see the way they can make more of their little home ready for the spring. At least it gives me something else to think about when I’m at work besides all the work.

The picture at the top of my blog is one that came with the theme. It is very nice, and very Bob Ross like (I know him pretty well, having seen loads of his painting on teevee), but I find it a bit dull. As soon as I get some time, I’m going to make a new one, something a bit more me. :)
A drink is going to be hard, Pipp. Because of work… work, work, work… always bloody work. But yeah… lets see what we can fit in.

Groetjes and kus,

Padwanna!
