I like that a lot more as well, Jens. It seems that your native society at least had the forethought to consider the topic in more than just a black and white issue.

It's been a week since I wrote this, and I am still seething a little at the position of the holier-than-thou religious circles that condemn this practice. Why is it all the really stupid people in the world are so entrenched in a religious camp? Well I guess that's easy enough to answer; stupidity breeds itself to follow the word of another without having to think for yourself. But why is it that society still tolerates stupidity in the form of religious influence and intolerance.

All of a sudden I've seen a perfectly reasonable case for creating a genetically improved society - which would be for the final death of religion and by that token, stupidity!

In German, there are two words for suicide - well, three, if you count "Suizid". The more commonly used one, "Selbstmord", translates as "self-murder". I vastly prefer the other one, "Freitod", which translates as "free death". That is, to borrow a phrase from an altogether different topic, "free as in free speech, not as in free beer".
